How to remove rust by available chemical means

Several methods of how to remove rust caustic substances:

• Acetic acid. You need to soak the rusty metal in vinegar and leave it for a few hours or overnight. After that, you can try to remove the rust with a brush. Vinegar helps dissolve the rust and makes it easier to separate it from the surface.
• Baking soda and water. A paste is made from baking soda and a small amount of water. The paste is applied to the rust and left for some time. Then wipe with a brush and rinse off.
• Lemon and salt. Rust is sprinkled with salt, and then squeeze lemon juice on it. An intense reaction of alkali and acid is formed. After several hours of exposure, clean the surface with a brush.
• Potatoes and baking soda or salt. Cut the potato in half and sprinkle baking soda or salt on the cut. Potatoes contain oxalates, which can help break down rust. It is rubbed on the surface of the metal.
• Electrolysis. This method involves the use of an electric current and a solution of table salt. A negative charge is connected to the rusty object, and a positive charge is connected to another metal object. They are immersed in the salt solution.
