Stretched ceiling canvases fit into almost all interior styles. Such finishing is famous for its practicality and durability. Manufacturers offer several varieties of stretch ceilings and each of them has its own characteristics.

Classification by material of manufacture

According to the material of manufacture, the ceiling canvases of the stretch type are divided into fabric and film. Construction on the basis of the film is more affordable. Their installation is carried out in the rooms of different purposes.

Fabric stretch ceilings

Fabric ceilings are more expensive, but they are not afraid of temperature fluctuations. They are resistant to sagging, they can be installed in rooms that are not heated. It is a good choice for balconies and porches. Fabric canvases have a porous structure which does not impede the natural circulation of air flows.

They are more demanding to care compared to their film counterparts, their surface can be covered with art painting. The advantages of textile ceilings:

  • the possibility of coloring, decorating with photoprints;
  • Maintaining elasticity in conditions of temperature fluctuations;
  • no need for preheating during installation;
  • environmental friendliness;
  • Minimum reduction in space in the room (not more than 15 mm);
  • seamless installation.

Disadvantages of fabric ceilings:

  • higher price in comparison with film counterparts;
  • the possibility of performing only dry cleaning;
  • limited color palette.

Another disadvantage is that the fabric attracts dust. This creates certain difficulties in cleaning, can cause allergies.

Film stretch ceilings

Many property owners make a choice in favor of film canvases. Ceilings of this type can withstand up to 100 liters of water per 1 square meter. Thus they provide reliable protection from flooding by the neighbors from above. The advantages of foil ceilings:

  • a wide range of colors;
  • anti-static properties;
  • easy care;
  • affordable cost.

Film fabrics are practical in operation. They are often mounted in bathrooms and kitchens. They are endowed with high light-reflecting abilities. Disadvantages of film ceilings:

  • noticeable weld (in expensive models it is almost not visible);
  • more complicated installation, the need to use a heat gun;
  • No possibility to apply in buildings where there is no heating - it is fraught with their sagging.

Two-level stretch ceilings can be installed with both film and fabric canvases.

Differences in texture fabrics

Stretch ceiling canvases differ not only in the material of manufacture, but also in textures. Buyers are offered glossy and matte options.

There are also satin ceilings. In appearance, they resemble satin fabric. Canvases of this type are endowed with all the advantages of film structures, and look like expensive fabric ones. Suitable for any premises.

Matt matte panels look respectable. They well disguise ceiling irregularities and give surfaces a laconic appearance. They are easy to use in interiors of different styles.

Glossy canvases become an excellent choice for small rooms. Ceilings from this series have the ability to visually expand the spatial boundaries. Thanks to them, the rooms seem to be more spacious.
