Which console of the new generation from Microsoft to choose?
- 28.02.2023
Microsoft has long been a popular company among gamers, because the consoles of this company more often than not pleased gamers with their affordability. The price tag on Microsoft consoles has always been lower than the competitors, and in the new generation Microsoft has decided to go even further. To make absolutely every gamer could get a console of new generation the company decided to launch two consoles in different price brackets instead of one. So the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S consoles were born.
The appearance of two consoles from Microsoft caused a resonance among gamers. Previously, those who were not ready to spend fabulous amounts of money on new consoles had to wait until they fall in price, but now you can buy a new generation of consoles the day after the announcement. Having realized this gamers asked themselves the question, but what console is better to buy?
Comparing the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S: which one to choose
To begin this comparison it is worth noting that these consoles belong to completely different types of consoles. Xbox Series X is the flagship of the generation, offering its owners the maximum of the possible. At the same time Xbox Series S is a new generation console with a more than affordable price tag, but a different, weaker hardware.
In order to answer the question, so which is better, we decided to compare the two consoles. Let's talk about what we got.
The cost of gaming consoles
Flagship companies always cost more than the regular models and this rule has not escaped the Xbox. The Xbox Series X costs several times more than the more affordable Xbox Series S, due to the use of simpler components.
If we consider this parameter in the context of what to buy cheaper and more profitable, the winner can be considered the Xbox Series S.
Gaming capabilities of consoles
Xbox Series X is the flagship of the generation and it is logical that it uses the latest hardware. Consequently, the gaming features of this console will be much more interesting than the Xbox Series S, but not everything is so unambiguous.
The Xbox Series X is indeed much more powerful than the available variation, but relatively recently Microsoft started talking about the fact that its cloud gaming service is almost ready and it can be launched on the Xbox Series S. Thus, Xbox Series S owners will be able to seamlessly run new products on their consoles even when the console itself loses support, so at this point it seems to us the right decision is a draw.
Life cycle and lifespan of gaming consoles
This aspect we decided to express in a comparison of consoles without Internet and for what it is necessary - we have already mentioned in the previous paragraph. Indeed, with the internet and streaming, the Xbox Series S console essentially offers the same as the flagship, but the console needs the internet to do so. If you take the Internet out of the equation it appears that the Xbox Series S has at best enough capacity for a few years - while the hardware used in the Xbox Series X will be enough for 5-8 years. So when it comes to longevity the winner is the Xbox Series X.
To summarize the comparison and answer the question which is better, we would like to point out that the answer depends on your goals. If you're looking to gamble at max settings you'll want the Xbox Series X. If you're looking for a game console with the most features and affordable price - look at the Xbox Series S.
