If you are a driver with experience you must have heard about this film. You are likely to be offered the service of wrapping a film on a car by buying it in a car salon, and they often talk about it in car repair shops. Let's analyze in details what is the anti gravure film for a car, what it is for and how to select it correctly.
What is an anti-grave film on a car?
The history of protective films began several decades ago. It was first used by the Americans during military operations in the Middle East (in particular, «Desert Storm») to protect their equipment from the detrimental effects of wind and sand. It turned out that the polyurethane film created from polyurethane is quite capable of protecting helicopter blades from destruction without damaging their aerodynamic properties in any way. Later this idea was taken up by specialists of Formula 1, which began to use the film for wrapping race cars. And finally, more recently the films have reached the ordinary cars.
These films are multi-layer polyurethane material with a unique elasticity and stretching ability. The polymers and molecular adhesive in its composition do not change their characteristics in a wide temperature range (from -70 to +100℃). These properties allow the film to be used in almost all conditions. At the same time, the film for cars is completely transparent, which means it does not affect the color of the car. It is also able to pass UV rays, which also has a positive effect on the preservation of the original appearance of the car.
What does the film protect from?
Antigravide film on a car is called so not without reason. Its main purpose is to protect a vehicle from minor scratches and damages. They occur as a result of gravel, pebbles, sand, asphalt crumbs, which fly out from under the wheels of passing cars. Also the film protects your car from hail blows and even from tree branches that can cause serious damage to the body paint.
Also the film has water repellant properties, which means it will reduce the chance of mold, rust and corrosion. It will also protect from the impact of car chemistry, which is often abused at car washes.
What you should know about these films
Before you wrap a car with this film, you should understand the purposes you need it for. Polyurethane film is more reliable and more expensive. Therefore, if you only need to protect the paintwork, this film will do. However, if the main purpose is to refresh the exterior of the car, you need a vinyl film.
It is thinner and more fragile than polyurethane, but not only transparent. With its help you can change the color of your car to gold, silver, matte, and in general any color you want without repainting the body or airbrushing.
What is the price for wrapping with wrap film?
The price of the service may be different and depends on several factors, ranging from the parts of the car to be wrapped and ending with the type and manufacturer of the film. It will be cheaper to wrap only the most vulnerable parts than the whole car. Usually it is a hood, headlights, fenders and roof. About the type of film we have already said above: you can choose vinyl or polyurethane. It is also worth paying attention to the country of manufacture and do not choose cheap Chinese analogues.
